Claude Pricing (2026): Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise
Claude pricing in one place: what Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise cost, what each plan includes, how usage limits work, and which plan fits how you work.
By Claudekit Team Published Last updated 9 min read
Claude has five plan levels, plus a separate pay-per-token API. Which one you need depends on two things: how much you use Claude each day, and whether you need Claude Code, team admin, or API access. This page lists every price, what each plan includes, and how to choose.
All prices were checked on October 24, 2026 on claude.com/pricing and the Claude Help Center. Prices are in USD before tax, may show in local currency where supported, and change; check the official page before you buy. Claudekit.ai is an independent community site, not affiliated with Anthropic.

What each plan includes
Free
The Free plan lets you chat on web, desktop and mobile; search the web, create files and run code; keep memory across conversations; connect apps and tools; and create Artifacts. The pricing page also lists Claude Design, Slides and Docs on Free. Projects work on Free too: the Help Center says they are available to all users, and Free users can create a maximum of five. It does not include Claude Code, and usage limits are the lowest of any plan.
Pro
Pro adds more usage plus, per the pricing page: handing off and scheduling tasks, Claude Dashboards (beta), Claude Code, Claude Science, Projects (the Help Center caps the Free plan at five), more Claude models, and Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365. The Help Center adds priority access during high-traffic periods and early access to new features.
Pro does not include API usage through the Claude Console. If you also want to build with the API, you need a separate Console account.
Max
Max is Pro with much more headroom. You choose 5x or 20x more usage than Pro per session, and get higher output limits, early access to advanced features and priority access at high-traffic times. Max is billed monthly only, and upgrading between tiers is prorated.
Max also includes monthly API credits: $100 on Max 5x and $200 on Max 20x. According to Anthropic’s API credits documentation, they cover the Claude API, Managed Agents, the Agent SDK and the Console playground, but not Claude Code or extra usage in the apps, and unused credits expire each billing cycle.
Deciding between Pro and Max is the most common pricing question we see; our Claude Pro vs Max comparison works through it with examples.
Team
Team is for groups of 2 to 150 people. You can mix two seat types:
- Standard seat: “All Claude features, plus more usage than Pro.”
- Premium seat: 5x more usage than a Standard seat.
Team adds Claude Code and Cowork, central billing, SSO, admin controls, enterprise search, Microsoft 365 integration and, per the pricing page, no model training on your content by default. Team plans also get pooled API credits: $20 per Standard seat and $100 per Premium seat a month, capped at $500.
Enterprise
Enterprise is listed at US$20 per seat per month, billed annually, with a 20-seat minimum, and the page notes that “usage cost scales with model and task”. On top of Team features it adds spend limits, role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom data retention, network-level access control, IP allowlisting and a HIPAA-ready offering. How Claude usage limits work
Paid individual plans don’t give you a fixed message count. Instead:
- A five-hour session limit: a rolling window that resets five hours after it starts.
- A weekly limit that applies across all models.
How far a session goes depends on message length, file sizes, conversation length and the model you choose. Long conversations with big attachments use the allowance faster than short questions.
Two consequences matter when you’re choosing a plan:
- Chat and Claude Code share the same allowance. A long research chat in the browser reduces what’s left for your coding session, and vice versa.
- You can buy past the limit. Pro and Max subscribers can turn on usage credits to keep working after hitting a limit, at extra cost.
If you mainly use Claude for coding, read our Claude Code pricing guide; it explains limit messages, the API-key billing trap, and how to track spend with /usage.
Anthropic does not publish these limits as hours or tokens, and it changes them often. Claude usage limits explained lists every rule per plan with its source, and the Claude limits changelog records each change by date.
Which Claude plan should you choose?
| If you… | Choose |
|---|---|
| Ask Claude a few questions a week | Free |
| Use Claude most working days for writing, research or analysis | Pro |
| Want to try Claude Code | Pro, since it’s the cheapest plan that includes it |
| Hit Pro’s limits several times a week | Max 5x |
| Run long Claude Code sessions or several in parallel every day | Max 20x |
| Need shared billing, SSO and admin controls for a team | Team (mix Standard and Premium seats) |
| Need SCIM, audit logs, data retention controls or HIPAA | Enterprise |
| Are building your own app or automation | API via the Claude Console |
A simple rule: start on the cheapest plan that has the features you need, and upgrade only after you’ve hit its limits repeatedly. To put a number on it, the plan picker prices your Claude Code habits at API rates and sets them against Pro, Max and Team. The Help Center says upgrades between Max tiers are prorated, so there’s little reason to over-buy on day one.
Is Claude Pro worth it?
For most people who use Claude regularly, the jump from Free to Pro is the one that matters. Pro unlocks Claude Code, adds project RAG, more models and substantially more usage for $20 a month, or $17 billed annually. If you’ve been hitting the Free limit or want Claude Code, it’s usually worth it. If you only open Claude occasionally, Free is fine.
Max is a different decision: it buys capacity, not features. Our Pro vs Max comparison covers when the extra $80 or $180 a month pays off.
How Claude pricing compares
For context, as of October 24, 2026, Google’s AI Pro plan lists at $19.99 a month and OpenAI’s Codex pricing page lists ChatGPT Plus at $20 a month. Entry-level paid tiers across the big three have converged near $20, so the decision comes down to features and fit rather than price. We compare them side by side in Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini and Claude vs Gemini.
Ways to spend less on Claude
- Pay annually for Pro if you’re sure you’ll keep it: $17 instead of $20 a month.
- Keep chats focused. Start a new conversation for a new topic, because long threads use your allowance faster.
- Use Projects for reference material instead of re-uploading the same files.
- Match the model to the task. Lighter models stretch the allowance further on simple jobs.
- For coding, manage context. Clearing context between tasks and keeping
CLAUDE.mdshort saves usage; see how to reduce Claude token usage and our Claude Code context management guide. - For automation, use the API with a workspace spend limit instead of burning your interactive allowance.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Claude cost per month?
As of October 24, 2026: Free is $0, Pro is $20 a month billed monthly or $17 a month billed annually, Max is $100 (5x) or $200 (20x) a month, Team seats are $25 or $125 a month billed monthly ($20 or $100 annually), and Enterprise is listed from $20 per seat per month billed annually with usage costs on top.
Is Claude free to use?
Yes, the Free plan costs nothing and includes chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation, code execution, memory, connectors, Artifacts and up to five Projects. It has the lowest usage limits and does not include Claude Code.
Does a Claude subscription include API access?
Not directly. Subscriptions cover the Claude apps and Claude Code. The API is billed per token through the Claude Console. Max and Team plans do include monthly API credits ($100 on Max 5x, $200 on Max 20x, up to $500 pooled on Team), but Pro and Free do not.
Can I pay for Claude Max annually?
No. Anthropic's Help Center says Max is currently available as a monthly subscription only. Pro and Team offer annual billing at a discount.
Do Claude chat and Claude Code share usage limits?
Yes. On paid individual plans, the five-hour session limit and the weekly limit are shared across Claude and Claude Code, so heavy use of one reduces what's left for the other.
