Disclosure: Claudekit.ai may earn a commission if you buy Agentkit.best through links on this page. We’re an independent community site, not affiliated with Anthropic, Agentkit.best’s makers or theclaudekit.com, and not the seller of any kit reviewed here. Our verdicts don’t depend on commissions.

A “Claude kit” is a ready-made bundle of skills, subagents, slash commands and hooks for Claude Code. Some are paid products, many are free, and the names overlap confusingly. This page compares what the main options cost, what you get, and who should pay versus build their own. All prices were checked on each seller’s official site on October 24, 2026; they change, so confirm before buying.

First, untangle the names

Three different things share the “ClaudeKit” name:

  1. Agentkit.best (formerly Claudekit.cc): the original commercial kit, now sold at agentkit.best. The old claudekit.cc domain redirects there.
  2. ClaudeKit at theclaudekit.com: a separate, newer commercial product with a subscription model. Not related to Agentkit.best.
  3. Claudekit.ai: this site, an independent community hub. We don’t sell a kit.

There are also free, open-source projects with similar names, such as carlrannaberg’s claudekit npm package and duthaho’s “Claude Kit”. We cover them below.

Agentkit.best (formerly Claudekit.cc)

Agentkit.best is the most established paid kit and the one most people mean by “ClaudeKit”. Our full Agentkit.best review goes deeper, and our Agentkit.best guide covers who should skip it.

What you get, per agentkit.best on October 24, 2026:

  • 108+ skills, 95+ slash commands covering the delivery lifecycle, and 45 specialised subagents across the Engineer and Marketing kits;
  • named workflow commands such as /ak:brainstorm, /ak:plan, /ak:cook, /ak:code-review and /ak:ship;
  • runtimes: Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Pi and Oh My Pi listed as production; Cursor and DeepSeek Harness in beta; OpenCode, Grok and GitHub Copilot in preview;
  • “full source code ownership” and instant licence-key delivery.

Pros

  • One-time price for the kits, not a subscription.
  • The workflow commands chain skills and subagents for you, which is the hardest part to design yourself.
  • Works across several agent runtimes, useful for mixed Claude Code and Codex teams.

Cons

  • A large library adds always-on context: Claude Code loads each auto-invocable skill’s name and description every session.
  • Strongly opinionated; if your process differs, expect to override parts of it.
  • The desktop app is a separate annual licence unless you buy the bundle. The site doesn’t state lifetime kit updates, so check the changelog and terms.

ClaudeKit at theclaudekit.com

A separate commercial product that sells role-based kits for Claude Code. What the site lists on October 24, 2026:

  • 123 slash commands, 27 skills and 16 subagents across 6 kits: EngineerKit, MarketingKit, VideoKit, SEOKit, EcomKit and TradeKit;
  • a manifest.json per kit showing its token cost, for example about 66,865 tokens for EngineerKit and about 12,602 for VideoKit;
  • install with a single ck install <kit> command, up to 3 devices per licence.

Pros

  • Low entry price if you want only one kit, and a lifetime option.
  • Token transparency per kit is genuinely useful; few kits publish this.
  • Covers non-engineering roles such as video, SEO, e-commerce and trading.

Cons

  • Subscriptions add up: All-Access is about $600 a year at the monthly price.
  • Claude Code focus; the site doesn’t list other runtimes.
  • Newer product with a shorter track record; evaluate within the refund window.

Superpowers

Superpowers by obra is an MIT-licensed workflow library: brainstorm before code, write plans in small tasks, test-driven development, subagent-driven development and clean branch finishing. With over 300,000 GitHub stars on October 24, 2026, it’s the most popular free option. Install from Anthropic’s official marketplace:

/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official

Best for developers who want a disciplined engineering process without paying. It’s a workflow, not a full kit: you still add project instructions and MCP servers.

claudekit by carlrannaberg

An MIT-licensed npm package (npm install -g claudekit) with guardrail hooks (file protection, typecheck/lint/test on change), slash commands and expert subagents. Lightweight and focused on safety rails. Unrelated to Agentkit.best or theclaudekit.com.

Claude Kit by duthaho

A free, MIT-licensed “verification-first” toolkit installed as a Claude Code plugin, with 15 skills across an investigate, design, implement, verify and ship flow, plus 8 specialist agents. Smaller community, but a clear philosophy.

Templates and marketplaces

Claude Code Templates and Anthropic’s official plugin marketplace let you pick individual pieces rather than a whole kit. See the plugins guide.

The DIY option

Everything a paid kit contains is built from free Claude Code features. A lean DIY kit:

CLAUDE.md                          # stack, commands, conventions
.claude/skills/ship-feature/SKILL.md
.claude/skills/release/SKILL.md
.claude/agents/reviewer.md
.claude/settings.json              # permissions + formatter hook
.mcp.json # the 1-3 MCP servers you use

It costs nothing, stays small in context and fits your codebase exactly. The cost is your time: writing, testing and tuning good skills and subagents takes iteration. Our skills guide, subagents guide and hooks guide cover each piece, and best Claude Code skills lists free skills worth starting from.

How to evaluate any kit before you pay

  1. Write down the workflows you need (plan, implement, test, review, release, docs).
  2. Estimate your DIY time for one good skill or subagent, and multiply.
  3. Check the context cost. After installing, run /context in Claude Code and see how much the kit loads every session.
  4. Test inside the refund window on a real task, not a demo.
  5. Disable what you don’t use. Every enabled auto-invocable skill costs a little context each turn.
  6. Avoid stacking workflows. Two planning or brainstorming systems compete for the same triggers; pick one.

Our verdict

  • Best paid kit for developers: Agentkit.best, for its breadth, one-time pricing and multi-runtime support, if you accept its opinions.
  • Best for single, non-engineering roles: theclaudekit.com’s single or lifetime kits, with welcome token transparency.
  • Best free: Superpowers for workflow, plus a few of your own skills.
  • Best overall value: a lean DIY kit, if you have a few hours to invest.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Claude kit cost?

From $0 to around $150 one-time, or a monthly subscription. As of October 24, 2026, Agentkit.best sells its Engineer or Marketing kit for $99 one-time or both for $149; theclaudekit.com's ClaudeKit charges $14.99 to $49.99 a month or $99 per kit for lifetime access. Free options include Superpowers, carlrannaberg's claudekit and a kit you build yourself.

Is Claudekit.cc the same as Agentkit.best?

Agentkit.best (formerly Claudekit.cc) is the original kit, renamed; claudekit.cc now redirects to agentkit.best. A different, unrelated product called ClaudeKit is sold at theclaudekit.com. Claudekit.ai, this site, is a third, independent community hub that sells neither.

Is a paid Claude kit worth it?

It is if you'd otherwise spend days writing and tuning skills, subagents and workflow commands, and the kit's process fits how you work. If you need only a few focused skills, a free kit or your own setup is leaner and costs nothing.

Do I still need a Claude subscription if I buy a kit?

Yes. Kits are files and commands that run inside Claude Code (and, for some kits, other agents). You still need a Claude plan or API account to run the models; Claude Code starts at the Pro plan, $20 a month as of October 24, 2026.

Can I get a refund on a Claude kit?

Both paid kits we reviewed advertise 14-day refunds on their own sites as of October 24, 2026. Read the current terms on the seller's site before buying.
